Ethan's story

Ethan is one of many DofE participants who has accessed his Gold Award through an Open Centre. He is a former pupil of Ysgol Penmaes, Brecon a school which provides a caring environment for pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties – he is also in care.

Through support from a funder Ethan was able to do his DofE without worrying about the financial aspect. It also meant that his carers didn’t have to worry about funding the opportunity for him. Ethan has become more independent and mature over the past year and has really enjoyed his time doing his DofE with people he wouldn’t have necessarily interacted with in or out of school.

Ethan completed his Bronze and Silver programmes with his school but has completed his Gold with us this October and is awaiting his invitation for the Gold Award presentation. Ethan took part in a range of activities for his sections such as performing arts and geocaching. For his volunteering he helped out at the local youth centre which let him take on responsibility of running the tuck shops. He also took part in an anti-bullying workshop. Ethan has achieved so much recently, and his confidence has improved immensely.”

By fundraising for the DofE, you're helping young people like Ethan.
