The Challenge

What is Do It 4 Youth?

Do It 4 Youth is a 4-week sponsored challenge. It’s split into four DofE-inspired parts - physical, technical, willpower, community - and runs right across the summer. All you have to do is pick your start date, choose your 4 challenges and get going!

What do I have to do?

1. Choose your Get up, Skill up, Free up and Hand up challenges

2. Sign up as an individual or a team

3. Spread the word and start fundraising. Share your challenge far and wide and ask people to support you through sponsorship to raise £100.

4. Earn your reward: Complete your challenges and raise £100 to get your very own special limited edition Do It 4 Youth pin.

Can I do this with family and friends?

We encourage as many people to get involved as possible and you can complete this with friends and family. Take care to follow Government guidance on social distancing measures. Stay up to date and follow guidance in your local area and devolved nations.

Is there a registration fee?

There is no cost to register for Do It 4 Youth. You can make an optional donation to kickstart your fundraising at the end of your registration.

Do I have to do all four challenges?

It's completely up to you. You'll be able to select what you'd like to do out of Get Up, Skill Up, Free Up and Hand Up during registration.

I'm currently doing my Gold/Silver/Bronze DofE, can Do It 4 Youth count towards my Award?

Yes, you'll need to get approval from your DofE Leader but the four weeks of Do It 4 Youth can count towards your award in the relevant sections.

Raising money

How much should I raise?

Every pound you raise will go towards helping young people from the toughest backgrounds across the UK to build life-long belief in themselves through DofE. Raise £100 and you'll earn a special limited edition Do It 4 Youth pin.

Can I Gift Aid my donation?

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a registered charity in the United Kingdom. This means that donations will always be used for the purpose for which they are intended and donors can add Gift Aid to their donation if they are a UK tax payer. Your donation may not be tax deductible if you live outside of the UK. Please check your local regulations for more information.

Do I need a JustGiving or Virgin Money page?

The Do It 4 Youth website is created by Funraisin which is a donation platform just like JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving. When you register to take part in Do It 4 Youth, you will set up a profile and fundraising page and people can donate to this in the same way they donate to a JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving page.

The platform is entirely secure; you will receive an email notification when you receive a donation and your donor will also receive receipt of their donation made to you.
