I’m fundraising for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
I'm running the Great North Run to support the Duke of Edinburgh's Award charity. I'm raising vital funds for the DofE charity so that more young people have the opportunity to participate in the life changing Awards, particularly those facing poverty and marginalisation who would benefit the most. What am I playing at?
Friday 28th Mar I have accepted this place for the Great North Run for several reasons really. First and foremost it's a case of practicing what you preach. It's all very well saying the Youth of today should be putting down their controllers and headsets and getting out there, but if you're not doing it either it's all a little empty. Secondly in an ever more competitive jobs market more and more employers are faced with equally qualified and gifted candidates and the differentiating factor can be, and often is, the Duke of Edinburgh’s scheme. By raising money to make the schemes accessible to more of our young people, we can give them lifeskills to use that can make a big difference.
Also I am bang out of shape and this will give me a kick up the butt to do something about it.
