Day 30 Solihull

Tuesday 30th Apr
So we have reached the end. I feel a bit sad that the last few days have not seen me complete the miles I had done earlier in the month but I did make the target and completed over 100 miles. Today again only a short walk to work this morning adding another one and a half miles. My final total is 109 miles. This would take me as far as Maidencomb on the Virtual Jurassic Coast Walk. I am also glad that I added miles every day. So it's goodbye and thanks for following me.

Day 29 Solihull

Monday 29th Apr
A sunny morning greeted my penultimate walk from Solihull station to work for the month. Uneventful but quite pleasant. No walk home so only one and a half miles added. It all seems to be tailing off a bit.

Muddy path to the allotment

Day 28 Bishops Itchington

Sunday 28th Apr
Raining again today so the village conservation group that I try to get to was cancelled. The rain dropped to a drizzle at around 10am so I took the opportunity to pop to the allotment and have a little walk around the village as it was too wet at the allotment to get much done. Added three miles to my total. Two more days to go. I will be sad to finish this blog.

Day 27 Churchover

Saturday 27th Apr
Only a short walk with Ollie around the village of Churchover today. Partly due to the rain and partly because of a change of plan for the day. I am glad I managed to get a bit of a walk in even though I have only added a mile to the total.

Day 26 Tudor Grange Park

Saturday 27th Apr
Had a lovely walk this morning in the sun. I sauntered through Tudor Grange Park and then up past Touchwood, past the Church and into Malvern Park. Impressed with the graffiti shark on the skate park wall in Tudor Grange. Added two miles to my total today.

Day 25 Solihull and Leamington Spa

Thursday 25th Apr
I took my regular routes to and from College today and added a walk around Mill Gardens and Jephson Gardens in Leamington Spa. I lovely afternoon stroll. Added four and a half miles today so I think that takes to three figure. Five more days so let's see how far I get.

Day 24 MADE IT!

Wednesday 24th Apr
Walked through Tudor Grange and Malvern Park this morning and came back to the station via Malvern Park and Solihull town centre. A total of three and a half miles which means I have made it to the end of the Jurassic Coast walk with five days to go. I am going to carry on just to see how far I get. A massive thank you to all my sponsors.

Day 23 Solihull Parks

Tuesday 23rd Apr
Took a long route across Tudor Grange Park this morning and I went all the way through Breuton Park nature reserve to the lake and back up through Malvern Park this afternoon. A pleasant walk if a bit chilly and rather muddy up to the boardwalks through the nature reserve. Added five miles to my total so not far to go. I am going to try for at least 100 miles by the end of the month.

Day 22 Solihull

Monday 22nd Apr
Only a short walk to College this morning. It was drizzly and overcast so not the best day for walking. Only added 1.5 miles to the total.

Day 21 The allotment

Sunday 21st Apr
Had a quiet day today. Went to the allotment to do some stuff and came back. 3 miles added. So three weeks in and 9 miles to go in the nine days left!
Rather exiting, fore anyway, I lifted one of the metal sheets I have at the allotment and discovered a grass snake underneath. They were not happy, and after some writhing they slithered off into the pile of wood in nextdoor 's plot. I tried to get a photo but I was too slow.

Day 20 The Grand Union Canal

Saturday 20th Apr
So today I really did not expect to get much walking in so, as I was up early I popped to the allotment and back.
In the afternoon we went into Leamington Spa to help Cate with preparation for her concert this evening with Aspire Music. We were also due to help at the concert later on. However, after initial fetching and carrying we had an hour to kill so I took myself off on a walk on the Grand Union Canal to Radford Semele and back. Also later, the rest of the family turned up and Ollie and I explored the canal in the other direction for half an hour. So in the end I managed another five miles! So I have made it to Sidmouth ( and probably a bit beyond.

Day 19 Solihull and Leamington Spa

Friday 19th Apr
Decided to have a more rested day today so my plan was only to walk to and from College. That went a bit awry when I missed my bus. With a bit of extra time in Leamington I decided to wander up Holly walk and then through Mill Gardens and Jephson Gardens. I had a lovely, unexpected stroll and here's the photos to prove it. So 3.5 miles added today. That takes to Coxe's Cliff just outside Sidmouth.

Day 18 Solihull and Leamington Spa

Thursday 18th Apr
I have amassed a good number of miles today without really thinking about it. Started the day with a walk through Solihull town centre for a bit of a change. It was gloriously sunny, if a bit nippy. The beautiful blue sky encouraged a number of photos. The afternoon saw a return via the same route and on arrival in Leamington Spa a stroll around Jephson Gardens. Unfortunately the sun did not last into the afternoon and spot of rain started to fall asleep I reached the end of my walk at the bus stop for home. I read a post yesterday from someone else doing this sponsored event and they mentioned the benefits of walking both physically and mentally and I wholeheartedly agree. I walk a lot each month anyway but reflecting on it this month has really appreciate the benefit of it. Anyway, enough philosophy and back to the totals. Today I have added five miles to my total. I am virtually at Beer Head

Day 17 - Solihull Parks

Wednesday 17th Apr
Back to a normal day at the College today. So my morning and evening walks will make up today's total. This morning I went through Tudor Grange Park and this afternoon I came through Malvern Park with a little detour to take today's photo in front of the Horse statue. A total of three miles. Up to Humble Point on the virtual hike.

Day 16 - DofE training event

Tuesday 16th Apr
The second day of the training event for our DofE students in College. After an overnight camp (very windy) we started the day with an orienteering activity and then onto the classroom for some route planning and first aid, followed by a walk to round things off. We did another circular from college but bigger than yesterday's route. So in total (not including all the running around the camp site) I have added 10 miles to my total. This will get me past Charmouth and into Lyme Regis on the virtual hike.

Day 14 - The allotment

Sunday 14th Apr
Another Sunday at the allotment. The walk to and from the allotment adds another 2 miles to my total. So two weeks in and 50  miles down. On target to make the end with DofE Training Event next week at College I should add a few miles to my total. Perhaps I can even make 100 miles.

Day 13 - Churchover

Saturday 13th Apr
Weekend trip to see the family. Ollie and I went for our first walk to the river swift of the year, with a stop over at the river and the resting tree. Only two miles added today but I always love a walk with Ollie. Must have reached the end of Chesil Beach by now!

Day 11 - Solihull Parks

Thursday 11th Apr
Another day at College. This morning I took the route through Tudor Grange and Malvern Park with a bit of an extra loop in Malvern. Coming home I took the direct route through Tudor Grange so only 3.5 miles in total today. The weather is getting milder and the wind has died down so hopefully I can get a good walk in on the weekend. On the Virtual Hike I will have made it a bit further along Chesil Beach today.

Day 10 - Tudor Grange Park, Solihull

Wednesday 10th Apr
Weather not great today so took a more direct route to and from College, Though I did take the diagonal route across Tudor Grange Park this morning. Added another 3.5 miles to my total. I have also got the tracker graph working so all good. I will be walking along Chesil Beach on the virtual hike.

Day 9 - Solihull and Leamington Spa

Tuesday 9th Apr
In work again so three mini treks making up today's total. The morning started with a wet walk through Tudor Grange and Malvern Park via Station. Alphage's Church. I had planned another longer afternoon walk around Breuton Park Nature Reserve but the weather was still looking a bit ropey in the afternoon so I decided to go back to the station via Malvern and Tudor Grange again, but not via the Church so it was a bit shorter. By the time I reached Leamington Spa the sun was out (but still windy) So, as I had time before the bus home, I went for a walk around The Pump Room Gardens and Jephson Gardens and then onto Upper Parade to catch my bus. I nice easy stroll. So in total I have done five more miles taking me to Weymouth and the Portland Bill Lighthouse on the Virtual Hike of the Jurassic Coast.
