Kate's DofE Wing Walk 2023
I must be mad!!!! I'm taking on the challenge of a lifetime and wing walking to raise money to help transform the lives of young people with the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
I am going to be strapped to the top of a 1940's bi-plane and launched into the skies.
Being a volunteer in the children's charity arena, I know how vital programmes like the DofE can be to provide life changing opportunities for young people.

🛩 TOMORROW IS THE DAY!! 🛩
Wednesday 26th JulA huge thank you to everyone who has
donated so far - I am blown away by people's kindness and generosity and your support means so much to me.
I am nervously waiting for the weather report to ensure it is safe to go up in the skies for my wing walk tomorrow.
As the nerves kick in I am turning my attention to why I am doing this......
as a Childline Counsellor, I speak to young people struggling in so many different ways and the DofE offers a scheme to help young people build life-long belief in themselves, empowering them and supporting them to take on their own challenges, follow their passions, and discover talents they never knew they had; building resilience in a world that can be overwhelming for many young people.
The DofE wants to give more than one million young people the chance to participate in their life-changing programmes, especially those who experience marginalisation, ensuring that the DofE is open to all young people and that their participants reflect the most diverse generation of young people ever.
......and that is why I am climbing on top of a plane and taking to the skies !!!
