Saturday 4th Oct
The count down is on! It is only 8 days until I run the Manchester Half Marathon in support of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. 

It has been very busy at the Hutcheson household over the last two weeks, preparing for my ‘Sweet Treat Fundraiser’ at my school. 

A huge thank you to everyone at BXA & Baird’s Pharmacy who bought any home bakes! Your support was amazing and helped fundraise an additional £500 for the charity. It is really appreciated by myself and everyone at the DofE award. 

In preparation for the run, last weekend I took part in the Baxter’s 10km in Inverness. It was a lovely day with the family and made me feel much more confident about the challenge ahead next week 🙈 😆 .

There is still time to donate. All proceeds go towards ensuring young people in poverty or who may have accessibility requirements can participate in the award. 

I have been very fortunate in my DofE journey and I want to give others that same chance no matter the barriers that may be in place for them. Everyone deserves to have the opportunity to take part in DofE! 

My first EVER race…

Sunday 10th Aug
Today I had my first ever race!!! 

This week I have become a member of the Deveron Harrier running club and took part in their 10k event. 
It was a super race and I thoroughly enjoyed myself! 

I would also like to give a huge thank you to everyone who has been kind enough to donate so far. It means a lot to myself and everyone at DofE. 

I am really looking forward to the other races I have planned leading up to Manchester to help my training and confidence. 

I will be keeping you all posted,

Giving Back to DofE…

Tuesday 5th Aug
Six years ago, after suffering an injury at a dance class I developed a condition called ‘Complex Regional Pain Syndrome’ and as a result, was left unable to walk without the aid of crutches for two years. 

Shortly after recovery I signed up for DofE. 

DofE not only helped me regain my confidence but it also helped me find new, fun ways of staying active - one being running.

Now as a DofE Youth Ambassador I want to give back to this amazing charity which has done so much for me over the years. 

By running the Manchester Half Marathon 2025, I want to help raise funds for the charity so that all young people can have the same opportunities that I have had, no matter their abilities or background. 

DofE brings out the best in its participants and I believe every young person should have that same chance. 

I would be extremely grateful for any support you could provide in helping me reach my fundraising goal of £250.
