I’m fundraising for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

I'm taking on a challenge and fundraising for the DofE in support of young people across the UK.

The DofE help young people build life-long belief in themselves, supporting them to take on their own challenges, follow their passions, and discover talents they never knew they had. Because when you prove to yourself that you’re ready for anything, nothing can hold you back.

The COVID-19 pandemic has left the UK’s youth facing more challenges than ever. As young people come out of lockdown, the DofE offers any and every young person the chance to build life-long skills and belief regardless of ability, interest or background. To feel able to do anything, achieve anything and overcome anything life throws their way, whatever their circumstance.

We're raising funds for the DofE so disadvantaged young people can take part in the DofE and build life-long belief in themselves and be ready for anything.

Please donate and help make a huge difference to young people who wouldn’t otherwise have access to the life-changing benefits of the DofE.

My Updates

One challenge done!

Wednesday 11th Aug
Going into August I have now completed the Willpower challenge of a dry July. Gave me a new insight into non-alcoholic drinks, with Seedlip and also a large range of 0% beers in shops and also restaurants. Will likely keep drinking some of these going forward.

Physical challenge progress

Wednesday 28th Jul
After a false start where my bike needed some repairs, my physical challenge to ride over 100km this month is underway. Only done a few small loops around the area so far to warm up, but tracking with Strava already a 1/4 of the way to my target.
If the weather stays good hope to do a longer ride this weekend to catch up on the distance!

Skills also underway

Friday 9th Jul
I have to thank Director of Music Matthew Rudd for the loan of an electronic piano so that I can begin the task of learning to play this month. Simply Piano app downloaded and ready to go!

The Challenges begin

Friday 9th Jul
Now back from a Silver expedition in the Peak District I begin my challenges for real with the first being my abstinence from alcohol for the month. I have found a new friend in Seedlip tonic to keep me on the straight and narrow.

The challenge launches

Saturday 12th Jun
With the resumption of DofE expedition training this week I have also launched the "Do it 4 Youth" challenge at Stephen Perse with myself as the first contender.
I have perhaps rather foolishly pledged that I will do a challenge in each of the four sections in July once term has finished.
More information to follow in the next few days!

Such a great cause. Our children are benefitting incalculably from the DofE experience but it costs a lot financially and in support. Thank you for helping others to get that chance.
