Royal Parks Half 2025

I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon for the DofE charity

I'm running the Royal Parks Half Marathon to support the DofE charity.  The money I raise will go directly to help transform the lives of young people facing povery and marginalisation by providing them with the opportunity to take part in the life changing Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, who might othewise not have been able to participate.

My own school were lucky enough to benefit from a huge amount of support to launch our Bronze Award programme. This remains in its early stages but there is a already huge benefit to students in the skills they are learning and the way they are challenging themselves. In a post pandemic world where teenagers have become increasingly isolated the DofE has never been more important to young people around the country.

Please support me by donating what you can to my fundraising page.

My Updates

2 months to go

Tuesday 12th Aug
Been a quiet couple of weeks of training due to holiday but after returning from a week camping in Dorset came back and did a 7 mile run last Friday.

I have already been as high as 10 miles before slowing off a little so in pretty good shape to be ready for October.

15 weeks to go!

Saturday 28th Jun
Been ages since my last training update and as tomorrow marks the 15 week mark thought it was time to do so.

Training is definitely going well and is ahead of schedule. Last week I ran 7.5 miles and today after a family BBQ and lots of sun pushed myself in sweltering heat managing 10 miles in 1hr 41.

Now might be time to step back down a little then build again faster.

Back on track

Thursday 29th May
Much more productive week. Managed 2 runs at a little over 2 miles, one PB (or certainly recent PB!) 5k and a 4.65 mile run this morning plus a good leg workout at the gym on Monday. Feel I could have pushed for more today but not wanting to take risks so need to remember not to push too hard.

Frustrating week

Sunday 25th May
Back to training gently after 6 days off. Picked up a niggle and had a really tight hamstring all week so took some time off. Pretty sure it was down to wearing sliders so lesson learned. Going to focus on some shorter runs and strength training for a couple of weeks to rebuild without risk of injury.

Morning run

Wednesday 14th May
4 mile run before work. Felt comfortable and quicker than my last one on Saturday by some way

Training begins

Tuesday 6th May
Since January I have been doing some running on the treadmill at the gym. Largely this has meant run until I get bored.

On Sunday, whilst away on the Suffolk coast, training began. I decided to push myself hard, completing 3 miles in 32 minutes.

5 months to add another 10 miles and get faster. I want to get under 2 hours for the half marathon. Anything else is a bonus!
