I survived Gold DofE… so here we go again!

It’s hard to believe it’s been 12 years since I completed my Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. At the time, I probably swore I’d never voluntarily sign up for another long hike… yet here we are!

Some of my best memories came from DofE: pitching tents in the rain (and arguing about how they were supposed to go up), sleeping through a storm on Mount Snowdon, collecting water from streams, getting slightly lost with just a map and compass, and surviving on questionable camping meals. We questioned our life choices more than once, but somehow laughed through it all.

Looking back, DofE gave me so much more than sore legs and blisters. It taught me resilience, teamwork, independence and confidence—skills I’ve carried with me ever since. It also sparked a lifelong love for the outdoors and adventures with friends.

So, 12 years later, me and my friends have decided that walking 10 miles around Windsor Great Park during what looks to be a UK heatwave is a brilliant idea! 🥵🥾 We’re taking on the DofE Trek Together to give something back to the award that gave me so much.

Every penny raised will help more young people, especially those facing financial barriers, have the chance to experience DofE, develop lifelong skills, and make memories they’ll still be laughing about years later—just like I am today.
