Joining the challenge is free, and there’s no set minimum fundraising requirement. We just ask that you do your best to support the DofE charity and help us open up opportunities for more young people to thrive.
Can anyone take part in the challenge?
Absolutely. Anyone can sign up and take part in the challenge. We need as many people as possible to get out and be active this March, whether completing the challenge solo or with family and friends.
There's no age restriction to participate in the challenge, but to join the challenge Facebook Group, participants must be over the age of 18.
Can you take part as team?
Yes of course, the more the merrier!
When you register for the challenge, you'll have the option to set up a team. You'll be asked to choose a team name, and a link will be provided for you to share with others. When someone joins your team, their fundraising page will be linked to the team page so that you can fundraise together.
Please note that everyone in your team will need to register individually so their miles can be tracked and we can to send them their free t-shirt.
By taking part in the challenge and raising vital funds for the DofE, we can ensure no young person is left behind and those who could benefit the most get the opportunity to start their DofE journey and unlock their full potential.
To complete the challenge, walk, wheel, or run a total of 120 miles anytime between 1 - 31 March 2026. Where and when you complete your miles is entirely up to you. For example, you could run a certain number of miles each day or do a longer walk, run, or cycle at the weekends.
If you'd like to complete some of your miles indoors, like at the gym, that counts too! The important thing is that you reach a total distance of 120 miles by the end of March. You can track your miles on your fundraising page which is automatically created when you register.
You’ve got this!
When you register for the challenge you'll automatically receive a personal fundraising page. Your fundraising page can be linked to both Fitbit and Strava. Any fitness activity logged through either of these apps will automatically show on your fundraising page. If you don't use a fitness app, or the one you use isn't compatible, you can manually enter the number of miles you've completed onto your fundraising page. Once you've registered and have your page set up simply go to 'My Fitness Activity' on your dashboard.
We'll also be sending a paper step tracker to everyone who registers for the challenge, which you can fill out at home. This will be sent out with your free Do it 4 Youth t-shirt.
If you complete the challenge by the 31 March and fundraise £50 or more for the DofE charity (excluding Gift Aid), you'll also receive an exclusive 70th anniversary DofE pin badge. These will be posted out from 1 April 2026, once the challenge has finished.
