I’m fundraising for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

I'm taking part in the DofE Do it 4 Youth Step Challenge walking, running or skipping 120 miles throughout March, raising vital funds for the DofE charity enabling more young people facing financial barriers to access the Awards programme and transform their lives.  Please support me by sponsoring as much as you can.

My Updates

Extra weight, thanks to needing potatoes.

Tuesday 10th Mar
Uneventful couple of days. A full on Sunday, learning loads of Scottish dances. Tracker clocked up 2 miles of dancing. Brain worked even harder. Day 1 of week 2 C25K with my mate Steve Cram. Today had to bring in loads of potatoes for a practical ! Well 4 jackets potatoes came in yesterday, but I didn't want to jog with too much weight, so some more will be coming in on Thursday - tomorrow is Day 2 of week 2. Total so far is 77 miles, so over half way. Yahoo

Do it 4 youth.

Saturday 7th Mar
A walk to a swim, and then a walk which ended up buying a new pair of walking boots.

A character building kind of day!!

Friday 6th Mar
This morning, the weather had well and truly changed, to heavy, wet rain. In true DofE style just had to grin and bear it. Not the first time and not the last time.

Wednesday 4th March.

Wednesday 4th Mar
Another beautiful day. With a Swift stroll in and out of work. Discussed Shin splints with a colleague as I can feel mine, so treated with a tennis ball. Got an extra mile in at Fitsteps, but  think the trailblazer tracker app got slightly confused.

Day 3 of challenge, day 2 of couch to 5k.

Tuesday 3rd Mar
Decided to try and use the couch to 5k, to speed up my mileage. Which it certainly did today, by a whole 2 minutes compared to yesterday's boot march. However halfway bell was at the bus stop and finishing- including cooling down, was at the happy shopper, so will see if I get further on day 3. At least it's down hill for most of the run, just uphill once I have finished.

Monday 1st March

Monday 2nd Mar
As I have made the rules, that I can't use any miles I achieve in work, it was an early start for me. Walking in is always ok as It's down hill most of the way, not quite so good walking home. DofE miles 7. (watch says 11 !!).
Tried to get a photo of all of us, but Ellen ended up on a fixture. Will try again when Helena next in work.

Sunday 1st March

Sunday 1st Mar
When you have four busy ladies in the team, it can be impossible to get a date when everyone is free to do at least one walk together. Today three of us could meet, one of us couldn't walk for long and two of us where free to do the discussed route - 8 local miles. To give myself a head start, I started the coach to 5k (with Steve Cram), to try and speed up my miles and fit them in my life and play with my headphones to make sure they will do their job as I walk too and from work. After another cup of tea, because it's Lent, so no coffee and cake !!, I delivered the Parish magazines, putting trailblazer on as I did them just to see how far my route is. Now I am fit for nothing apart from colouring in 12 miles!!!!

Colouring in has arrived.

Sunday 22nd Feb
Smart t-shirt and colouring in has arrived and is now ready to be coloured, or a tiny bit of zentangle every day. Although not sure if I'll have enough time for walking and colouring !

Bone kind of headphones things

Sunday 15th Feb
Treated myself to some headphones for the challenge, so that I can listen to radio 2 as I walk to and from work, one of the easiest ways I can think of to fit in the extra miles that I am attempting to do. Lets see how I get on with them.
