My Updates

Almost time

Tuesday 24th Feb
I have been involved with the Duke of Edinburgh award at my school for 12 years. It's an amazing way for kids to learn about themselves and gain some valuable skills. I have seen kids really come out of their shell, especially on their expeditions. It has taught me so much too and it has allowed me to gain a Lowland Expedition Leader qualification to really improve my skills and confidence.

This year is the 70th anniversary of the D of E award and to celebrate they have launched the 'Do it for Youth Challenge'. 120 miles (193.121 kilometers if you use proper units) in March! Walking, running or cycling.

I am probably going to end up evenly splitting the distance between walking, running and cycling. I'll be doing park runs and Ale hub runs, walks and hikes with my Fiancée, family and friends. Cycling around the Worcestershire countryside when it's nice weather. We even have some D of E expedition training with the kids in March which will count towards the total.

This is all to raise money for the DofE charity so more young people facing financial barriers can access the life-changing Awards programme and transform their lives.  If you can, please support me by sponsoring what you can. This link will take you to my challenge page where you can donate and track my progress.

If I get to £50 I get a limited edition 70th Anniversary pin badge. Which will look great next to my 60th Anniversary pin badge from raising money 10 years ago.

I'll post about my activities and updates throughout March to let you know how I'm doing.

If you want to join me for an activity or have something you want me to join to help me reach my goal, please let me know.

Sign up complete

Monday 19th Jan
Just completed my sign up for the 120 mile challenge. I am really looking forward to it but I am really going to have to figure out how to achieve it. I suppose that's the point in the challenge.

We have lots of hikes and runs planned. Plus we will be joined by my D of E leader crew for a few of the activities.

I am going to spend the time up till March training for some long runs so I can really get the miles in.

Thank you to my Sponsors
